The Connected Communities: Writing our History, Digging our Past project aims to assist voluntary groups in the East Midlands and beyond delve into their local history by providing access to the expertise and resources of professional arts and humanities researchers.
The project is being funded under the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s (AHRC) Connected Communities initiative, which aims to encourage understanding of the changing nature of communities and community values and the impact which their heritage and cultural contexts have on our quality of life.
In June in 2012, the University hosted a bid-writing surgery for community groups interested in applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Groups were able to meet with me and other staff for advice on developing and managing their project, and suggestions for using digital technology to share and celebrate their projects.
