Information Geology

Information Geology is an internal Horizon project in which we studied how people made sense of and placed value in their ever-increasing repositories of personal data. A web-based tool was built to mine and then visualise data from a user’s Facebook account, in order to test which data they would save under pressure; we also ran a workshop during which members of the public were tasked with sorting and categorising types of personal data according to various metrics. The aim of these activities was to provide insights for designers of future tools to organise personal collections of data.
